Latest News from The Fat Quarters

Hello

We have been very busy this week with Kids classes, 17 over 2 afternoons, its great to see sewing becoming so popular thanks to the coverage it is receiving. If you want to see updates check out our Facebook page.

The postage increases have been much talked about and we have reviewed our prices. There is good news and some bad but here goes.

We have REDUCED the cost of many smaller items such as Patterns, Needles, Stamps etc to only £1.

Previously All items posted in the UK was £1.95 so this is a fantastic saving.

All other postage in  the UK has been increased to £2.25 regardless of what you order.

New in this week are a HUGE selection of Acrylics at low prices.

Rulers of all shape and sizes, including speciality rulers are in store.

We also have the Simplicity Felting Machine available in store RRP £299  Only £199. 

New fabrics include Balloon Safari a lovely range including a panel for the little ones in your lives and the latest from Art Gallery Fabric Indian Summer is now in store.

A great new product from Bosal is the Bosal Craft-tex Placemats, table runners and coaster. A double side fusible product already shaped ready to sew fabric or simply fuse fabric onto it. This product is featured in Sew Magazine and I have had a try and its great.

New Postage Costs

The Royal Mail Postage Charges have been increased on the 2nd April 2013. The Fat Quarters have looked at the prices of a variety of Couriers and Royal Mail still are the most competitive in most cases.
As a result we have reviewed our charges and have DECREASED postage on ALL patterns and a number of smaller items such as needles, stamps etc to £1.
The most anyone will pay in the UK is £2.25.

Residential Weekend 27th-29th September 2013

                                                                                                   

Quilting Residential Weekend at Horsley Hall, Eastgate in Weardale

Friday 27th September –Sunday 29^th September 2013

The team at The Fat Quarters has put together an amazing weekend which consists of good food, a fabulous venue and plenty of quilting.

Horsley Hall is an elegant three storey manor house which dates back to the 17^th century and during the weekend we have exclusive use of the whole building. Accommodation will be at The Cross keys Public House, Eastgate, which is 2 minutes away. All rooms are twin bedded and can be a single occupancy for a small charge.  We can arrange a taxi between the venues if you do not wish to drive. If you are not able to stay overnight then we have included a number of options for you to attend the course during the day.

During the weekend we will be tackling the Medallion Quilt from the Canny Keepsakes Book, ‘Shopping Days’.  Everyone attending will receive a signed copy of the book. A requirement list will be sent out in July.

Itinerary:

Friday 27^th September check in from 4pm onwards and we will meet at 8pm for a two course Hot Buffet Supper.

Saturday 28^th September, quilting throughout the day; a two course lunch and on the evening a 3 course meal.

Sunday 29^th September, more quilting; and two course lunch. The day will finish at 4pm approx.

Costs

Residential Course in a twin room £220 per person. Single Occupancy £275

Non-resident, to include lunches both days and evening meal on the Saturday £120

Non-resident to include lunches both days £95

A non refundable deposit of £75 for residential and £40 for non residential is required by the 19^th April 2013. Please make cheques payable to Kim Suleman.

The Art gallery Fabrics continue to keep coming into store and we have put together some Kits using the Art Gallery Patterns. I have just about finished London's Calling using the Carnaby Street and it is easy to do ideal for a beginner.

Our second 100th winner was Anne Cunningham from Hutton Rudby Yarm.
